Mr. Ibrahim Rashvan, Executive Assistant Manager – Food and Beverage at dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives, is at the center of mounting allegations of sexual harassment, emotional coercion, and degrading misconduct, with multiple staff formally escalating their complaints to Dusit International’s top leadership in Bangkok.
In detailed submissions obtained by The Standard Maldives, current and former staff accuse Rashvan of creating a hostile workplace defined by unwanted advances, public humiliation, and systematic abuse of authority. His actions, they claim, have left employees humiliated, silenced, and professionally undermined.
Pattern of Harassment and Humiliation
Testimonies allege that Rashvan repeatedly pursued employees with inappropriate propositions and coercive invitations to his private quarters, despite clear refusals. Staff recount being subjected to suggestive comments in front of colleagues, unsolicited declarations of affection, and humiliating “jokes” that crossed every professional boundary.
In one shocking incident, he is accused of pouring water on a female employee’s backside in front of staff, laughing as she stood in humiliation. In another, he allegedly passed gas directly in her face — an act described as deliberately degrading and designed to assert control.
Employees further allege that Rashvan manipulated performance evaluations to punish those who resisted him, fabricating negative reviews to sabotage careers and justify forced departures.
Reputation Attacks and Gossip Tactics
Beyond physical humiliation, Rashvan is accused of weaponizing gossip to destroy reputations. Staff reports describe how he fabricated stories of sexual misconduct at previous workplaces and later admitted to planting such rumors.
During a formal dinner attended by one of the resort’s owners, Rashvan allegedly claimed a staff member had expressed romantic interest in him — a falsehood delivered publicly, leaving the employee humiliated and professionally tarnished.
Complaint Reaches Dusit International Headquarters
The scandal has now reached the highest levels of Dusit International. A collective complaint has been submitted directly to:
- Suphajee Suthumpun – Group CEO
- Siradej Donavanik – Vice President, Hotel Business Development
- Chitanong Poomipark – Chief Legal Officer
- Jean-Louis Ripoche – Area General Manager, Dusit Thani Maldives
The document calls for immediate disciplinary action against Rashvan, an independent investigation, and guarantees of workplace protections for staff at all Dusit properties in the Maldives.
A Test for Corporate Accountability
Dusit International has yet to publicly respond to these explosive allegations. The absence of a statement risks being interpreted as tacit indifference, especially in a tourism-driven economy where workers’ rights are already vulnerable.
For Rashvan, the accusations represent not just personal disgrace but also a professional crisis that could reverberate across the Maldives’ hospitality sector. For Dusit International, failure to act decisively risks reputational damage well beyond the archipelago.
As this case unfolds, the question remains: will the company protect its staff and set a precedent for accountability — or shield a senior executive accused of harassment and abuse?
The Standard Maldives will continue to pursue updates on this case and report on any legal or corporate action taken against Mr. Ibrahim Rashvan.
