The State Electric Company (STELCO) has successfully concluded a comprehensive electricity upgrade project in AA. Feridhoo, significantly improving the island’s power infrastructure and ensuring more reliable service for its residents.
As part of the project, 90 percent of Feridhoo’s electrical distribution network was upgraded, alongside the installation of a new 2000-ampere modern control panel at the island’s engine house. The modernization initiative aims to meet the growing electricity demand and address long-standing issues such as voltage drops, which had previously affected service quality.
According to STELCO, the enhancements have not only resolved voltage fluctuations but also strengthened the island’s capacity to respond swiftly to emergencies. The new control system allows for quicker fault detection and resolution, reducing service downtime and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
“These upgrades mark a significant milestone for Feridhoo’s development,” a STELCO spokesperson noted. “By investing in modern infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for sustained energy growth while building greater public confidence in essential services.”
The project is part of STELCO’s broader commitment to improve electricity services across the Maldives, with a focus on enhancing resilience, efficiency, and long-term sustainability in island communities.
