State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced a planned shutdown of its 50 MW Hulhumalé power plant tomorrow morning for essential maintenance works. The scheduled shutdown, taking place between 06:00 and 10:00, is intended to strengthen the grid and ensure a more reliable electricity supply for the Malé region.
During this period, each affected area in Malé and Hulhumalé will face a power outage lasting approximately one hour. STELCO confirmed that residents will be informed of the specific timings and locations in advance through SMS notifications, allowing households and businesses to prepare accordingly.
The company assured that critical infrastructure, including hospitals and other vital services, will not be impacted by the power cuts. Efforts are also underway to complete the works ahead of schedule and restore electricity as quickly as possible.
According to STELCO, the preventive maintenance is a strategic step to avert potential risks and safeguard uninterrupted electricity supply in the future.
