Three Indian Nationals Arrested Following Altercation at Malé’s Artificial Beach

By Ahmed Ashraf Published January 17, 2025

In a recent incident at Malé’s Artificial Beach, three Indian nationals were apprehended by local authorities following a physical altercation. The Maldives Police Service reported that the disturbance occurred around 20:30 local time. During the incident, a Maldivian bystander, who was recording the scene, was assaulted by the individuals involved. The police have confirmed the detention of the three foreign nationals and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

Footage of the altercation has been circulating on social media platforms, depicting a crowded scene at the Artificial Beach. The video shows police officers actively managing the situation, including the moment when an individual was escorted into a police vehicle.

This event follows a similar incident on December 6, 2024, at the same location, where a brawl among expatriates led to public safety concerns. In that case, the primary instigator, identified as 25-year-old Amrit Singh, was taken into custody with the assistance of the Maldives Police Service and is currently undergoing deportation proceedings.
