A couple from Rasdhoo, Alif Alif Atoll, is currently in critical condition following a devastating house fire on Monday night. Sources from the island confirmed that the couple sustained severe burns after the blaze erupted in their home, with over 80% of their bodies severely burned.
The couple, identified as a nurse and a staff member of the Bank of Maldives (BML), was immediately transported to the capital, Malé, for treatment at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). According to hospital sources, both are in critical condition, with their vital functions deteriorating as they receive medical care.
The fire, which broke out around 11:15 PM on Monday, has been confirmed by local police. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the incident.
