In a landmark move to amplify the Maldives’ global tourism appeal, Ooredoo Maldives and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have forged a strategic partnership. The agreement, signed on May 6, 2025, at Ooredoo Headquarters in Hulhumalé, was officiated by Ooredoo Maldives CEO and Managing Director Khalid Al-Hamadi and MMPRC CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree.
This collaboration aims to leverage Ooredoo Group’s extensive international presence to promote the Maldives as a premier travel destination. With operations spanning over 10 countries and a customer base exceeding 117 million, Ooredoo’s platforms offer a significant opportunity to amplify the “Visit Maldives” brand across key markets in Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.
“We are honored to partner with MMPRC in promoting the Maldives—one of the most beautiful destinations in the world,” stated Al-Hamadi. “With the strength of Ooredoo’s global network, we aim to inspire more travelers from our international markets to experience the unique beauty, culture, and hospitality of the Maldives.”
Echoing this sentiment, Shiuree emphasized the strategic value of the partnership. “This collaboration with Ooredoo marks a significant step in enhancing our global outreach,” he said. “Ooredoo’s established presence across numerous international markets offers a strategic opportunity to elevate our brand visibility and further promote the Maldives as a premier tourist destination.”
The alliance aligns with Ooredoo Maldives’ commitment to supporting national development through strategic collaborations, particularly in the vital tourism sector. By utilizing Ooredoo’s regional platforms, the partnership aims to connect more people to the allure of the Maldives, thereby contributing to the country’s economic growth.
This initiative is part of MMPRC’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism base by attracting high-value travelers, a segment known for longer stays and higher spending. The collaboration with Ooredoo complements other recent marketing efforts, including partnerships with global entities like Liverpool FC and Emirates, to solidify the Maldives’ status as a world-class travel destination.
As the Maldives continues to experience a surge in tourism, with 2024 marking a record-breaking year of over 2 million tourist arrivals, such strategic partnerships are pivotal in sustaining this momentum and ensuring the industry’s long-term growth.
