The India High Commission in Maldives marked the 11th UN International Yoga Day at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, drawing over 500 yoga enthusiasts for a revitalizing sunrise session. The event featured a unifying yoga routine blending physical postures and breathing exercises, and was led by experienced instructors skilled in guiding participants of varying levels.

Held today, the global theme—“Yoga for One Earth, One Health”—underscored yoga’s role in fostering individual well-being and global harmony . The beachfront setting at Taj Exotica—renowned for its idyllic white sands and tranquil lagoons—provided a serene backdrop for the event.

This celebration reflects India’s broader commitment to promoting Yoga Day worldwide, with activities planned across 1,300 cities in 191 countries—including the Maldives . In Male, gathering under the open sky, participants embraced both the physical and meditative facets of yoga, reinforcing the discipline’s message of unity between mind, body, and the planet.

By bringing together diplomats, locals, and tourists in a shared wellness experience, the event not only honoured a global initiative but also strengthened cultural ties. As the International Yoga Day phenomenon evolves, this year’s gathering at Taj Exotica sets a graceful standard for future celebrations in the Maldives and beyond.
