Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has reported steady progress on the design and build of the harbor development project in N. Fohdhoo, with dredging works currently underway.
According to MTCC, dredging of the harbor channel and basin is in progress as part of the early stages of the project. Once completed, the upgraded harbor is expected to provide safer and more reliable access for vessels, easing transportation and improving connectivity for the island’s residents.
Harbor development projects such as this are considered vital infrastructure investments, particularly for islands dependent on fishing and inter-island travel. Enhanced facilities are expected to boost local economic activity while ensuring safer berthing conditions for boats during adverse weather.
The N. Fohdhoo harbor project is one among several infrastructure initiatives currently being undertaken by MTCC across the country, reflecting the company’s role as the leading contractor for maritime and transport-related development in the Maldives.
