Work on the second phase of the Malé Northside Boduthakurufaanu Road Development Project is gaining momentum, with the government aiming to deliver the upgrade before Ramadan, in line with the pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) confirmed that 85 metres of sheet pile installation have now been completed, marking a major step in the groundwork required for the redevelopment. Reclamation works are currently ongoing, while water and wastewater network upgrading is scheduled for completion by next week.

MTCC said multiple supporting works are also progressing simultaneously, including sidewalk construction on the building side, installation of stormwater catch pits, and cable junction installation, all of which are targeted to be completed by next week.
The project is expected to significantly enhance mobility and access across Malé City by delivering modern, pedestrian-friendly roads designed to improve safety, traffic flow, and overall urban convenience.
With the President personally highlighting the need for completion before Ramadan, the accelerated pace is being viewed as a key delivery benchmark under the administration’s broader infrastructure agenda for the capital.
