Moosa Ali Jaleel, the Male’ City mayoral candidate of the ruling People’s National Congress, has pledged to uphold and expand the high standard of municipal service delivered during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s tenure as Mayor, describing that period as a defining benchmark for effective city governance.

Speaking at the inauguration of his campaign office on Sunday night, Moosa Ali Jaleel said the Male’ City Council had struggled for more than a decade to provide meaningful and consistent services following the introduction of the local governance system in 2011. He noted that this trend changed decisively after the 2021 local council elections, when was elected Mayor with a clear public mandate.
Moosa Ali Jaleel described the two years and five months of President Muizzu’s mayoral leadership as a “Golden Era” for Male’, marked by visible service improvements, stronger institutional performance, and decisive leadership focused on results.

He highlighted that during this period, the President maintained a close connection with residents through regular town hall meetings, allowing the administration to directly engage with citizens and address long standing urban challenges that had remained unresolved for years.
Concluding his remarks, Moosa Ali Jaleel said his decision to contest the mayoral election was inspired by President Muizzu’s dedication, discipline, and development focused approach. He pledged to build on the President’s vision and continue the trajectory of progress established during his leadership, positioning Male’ for sustained improvement and responsive governance.
