Dhiraagu Gaming Conquest returns in November with MVR 150,000 prize pool

By Hussain Shinan Published 2 hours ago

Dhiraagu has announced that the Maldives Gaming Conquest (DMGC) 2026 will take place from November 26 to 28 at Kalaafaanu School, bringing three days of competitive esports, interactive gaming experiences and entertainment to the capital.

Organised by Dhiraagu Gamers Guild (DGG), the annual event will feature a combined prize pool of MVR 150,000, with some of the country’s leading competitive gamers expected to compete for championship titles.

Entry will be free for all visitors, allowing gaming enthusiasts, families and members of the public to experience a variety of activities across mobile, PC and console gaming platforms.

The event follows the success of last year’s tournament, which attracted more than 1,500 participants from across the Maldives, reflecting the growing popularity of competitive gaming among young people.

This year’s edition will feature the grand finals of three major esports titles: PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Rocket League.

Teams that advance through the qualifying stages will compete in front of spectators during the three-day event, with championship titles at stake in each competition.

Dhiraagu has also confirmed plans to include EA SPORTS FC 27 and Tekken tournaments, with further details on competition formats and registration expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Beyond the tournaments, organisers are preparing a range of interactive attractions designed to make the event accessible to visitors who may not actively participate in competitive gaming.

These will include virtual reality experiences, racing simulators and Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), a tabletop role-playing game that has developed a following among gaming communities around the world.

Additional activities and entertainment programmes are expected to be revealed closer to the event.

The inclusion of different gaming formats reflects an effort to bring together a wider audience, from experienced esports competitors to casual players and visitors interested in exploring new forms of digital entertainment.

For competitive gamers, the event provides an opportunity to test their skills against other players, while spectators will be able to follow tournament finals and experience the atmosphere of live esports competitions.

The Maldives has witnessed growing interest in esports in recent years, particularly in mobile gaming, where competitive titles have become increasingly accessible through smartphones and online multiplayer platforms.

Games such as PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang have helped establish competitive gaming communities internationally, with organised tournaments attracting players and audiences across South Asia and other regions.

The development of local competitions has also created opportunities for Maldivian players to gain tournament experience, build teams and engage with the wider gaming community.

Dhiraagu Gamers Guild has played a role in supporting this growth by organising gaming activities and providing platforms for players to participate in structured competitions.

Through initiatives such as Maldives Gaming Conquest, Dhiraagu has sought to encourage participation in esports while supporting the development of digital entertainment in the country.

The event also provides a space for gamers from different islands and backgrounds to connect, share experiences and engage with others who have similar interests.

With a MVR 150,000 prize pool and multiple competitive titles, the 2026 edition is expected to attract strong interest from both established players and newcomers.

Dhiraagu has indicated that further announcements regarding tournament registration, additional attractions and event activities will be made ahead of November.

The three-day Maldives Gaming Conquest 2026 will be held at Kalaafaanu School from November 26 to 28, with admission open to the public at no charge.
