The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, has confirmed the completion of asphalt laying works for Phase 2 of the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Road Development Project, delivering a key milestone under the infrastructure pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
With the asphalt surfacing now completed, the upgraded corridor is entering its final phase, bringing the project closer to full completion ahead of the administration’s targeted timeline.

The redevelopment is expected to significantly enhance accessibility across Malé City through the construction of modern, pedestrian-friendly roads. The widened roadway is designed to ease congestion along one of the capital’s busiest routes, while a newly installed stormwater drainage system is aimed at reducing flooding during heavy rainfall, ensuring safer and more resilient infrastructure for motorists and pedestrians alike.
The project forms part of President Muizzu’s broader urban modernisation agenda, focused on delivering improved traffic flow, climate-resilient drainage systems, and higher safety standards within the capital.
