Ooredoo First in Maldives to Launch eSIM for Apple and Samsung Smartwatches

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 5 hours ago

Ooredoo Maldives has become the first telecommunications provider in the Maldives to introduce eSIM services for both Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch devices, marking another major milestone in the country’s digital connectivity landscape.

The company announced on Wednesday that the new service enables customers to stay connected directly through their smartwatches without needing their smartphones nearby. Users will be able to make and receive calls, send messages, stream music, receive notifications, and access applications seamlessly using supported wearable devices.

According to Ooredoo Maldives, the wearable eSIM service is compatible with supported Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch models, offering added convenience for users during workouts, travel, outdoor activities, and everyday mobility.

The telecom provider stated that the launch reflects its continued commitment to advancing a smarter and more connected “Digital Maldives” through the introduction of world-class technologies and innovative digital experiences.

Ooredoo Maldives has previously led several key telecommunications advancements in the country, including the introduction of 3G, 4G and 5G mobile services. The addition of smartwatch eSIM connectivity further strengthens the company’s position as one of the Maldives’ leading digital innovators.

Customers can activate the service for Apple Watch devices through ore.do/applewatch, while Samsung Galaxy Watch users can activate their eSIM service via ore.do/samsung-watch.

Ooredoo Maldives provides a wide range of voice, data, broadband, enterprise and digital content services across the Maldives. The company is also publicly listed on the Maldives Stock Exchange.
