One lane of Boduthakurufaanu Magu near West Park has been temporarily closed as preparations begin for the third phase of the major road redevelopment project in Malé.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), which is carrying out the project, said the lane closure took effect at 12:00 am on Sunday to allow preparatory works for the next stage of construction.
MTCC has advised motorists and other road users travelling through the West Park area to exercise caution while the temporary traffic arrangement remains in place.
The company also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the closure and requested the cooperation of the public as work progresses.
The Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment forms part of the government’s wider programme to modernise the road infrastructure of the capital. Work has been progressing across different sections of the road, including asphalt paving and the installation of upgraded drainage infrastructure.
The project has already reached several milestones. MTCC’s recent updates show work has included the commissioning of a pump station near the Maldives Monetary Authority area, landscaping and tree planting along Boduthakurufaanu Magu, as well as other road and drainage improvements.
The latest traffic changes around West Park mark preparations for the third phase of the redevelopment, as work continues on one of Malé’s key arterial roads.
