Ooredoo Maldives has announced a giveaway offering 10 running enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in the Ooredoo Doha Marathon 2027 without paying race registration fees.
The initiative gives Maldivian runners a chance to compete in an international sporting event in Qatar, with winners able to select a race category suited to their fitness level and experience.
Applications for the giveaway are now open, with interested participants required to register before October 14, 2026.
According to Ooredoo Maldives, 10 winners will be selected to receive complimentary registration for the upcoming marathon, which attracts runners of different abilities and experience levels.
Participants can choose between four race distances: the 5-kilometre run, 10-kilometre run, half marathon and full marathon.
The different categories allow both recreational runners and experienced athletes to take part, whether they are aiming to complete their first international race or challenge themselves over a longer distance.
The full marathon covers the internationally recognised distance of 42.195 kilometres, while the half marathon is approximately 21.1 kilometres.
Ooredoo said the giveaway is part of its wider efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles, promote sportsmanship and create opportunities for Maldivians to participate in sporting activities beyond the country.
The Doha Marathon has become a prominent fixture in Qatar’s running calendar, bringing together participants across a range of race categories and offering runners the experience of competing alongside athletes from different countries.
For Maldivian runners, participation in international events can provide an opportunity to gain competitive experience, establish personal goals and engage with the wider running community.
Interest in running and recreational fitness has also created opportunities for individuals to participate in organised races as a way of maintaining physical activity and developing personal endurance.
Ooredoo Maldives said its latest initiative is intended to encourage runners of all abilities to pursue such experiences while supporting the development of a more active sporting community.
However, the company clarified that the giveaway covers race registration fees only.
Selected winners will be responsible for arranging and paying for their own flights, accommodation and other expenses associated with travelling to Qatar.
The offer therefore provides entry to the event rather than a fully sponsored trip.
Individuals interested in participating can submit their applications through Ooredoo’s designated registration portal at ore.do/dohamarathon.
The deadline for entries is October 14, 2026, and the company said the giveaway will be subject to applicable terms and conditions.
Ooredoo Maldives encouraged running enthusiasts across the country to apply, describing the initiative as an opportunity for Maldivians to take part in an international sporting event while pursuing their personal fitness ambitions.
