Two Indian citizens have been detained in the Maldives on charges of importing narcotics and have been remanded for 30 days. The individuals, identified as Saddam Hussain (30) and MD Tamanna (31) were apprehended following an investigation into their alleged roles in the drug importation.
The Criminal Court’s remand order reveals that suspicious substances believed to be drugs were discovered in the luggage carried by Tamanna. He has reportedly denied ownership, claiming that the items were given to him by another person. Meanwhile, Hussain, who was present to collect the items, admitted they were intended for his personal use.
Given the gravity of the allegations against them, the court has opted to extend their detention for 30 days while further investigations are conducted into this serious criminal matter.
