Maldivian Airlines has confirmed that apparent increases in domestic ticket prices were the result of a technical error in its booking system, not a change in fares, the national carrier announced on Saturday morning.
In a tweet addressed to its customers, the airline stated, “We would like to assure our valued customers that there have been no changes to our domestic fares. The discrepancies some customers noticed are due to a technical issue in our booking system, which has been resolved now.” The airline extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused by the glitch.
While details of the technical problem were not disclosed, Maldivian Airlines emphasized that it is actively working to prevent similar issues in the future. In the meantime, the carrier advised travelers to make their flight bookings via telephone at 1671 or by emailing [email protected] until the online system is fully restored.
Several people had reported unexpected fare increases, prompting concern among travelers. However, the airline reassured the public that the observed pricing differences were solely due to the technical error, and that the actual domestic fares remain unchanged.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” the airline added in its statement.
As Maldivian Airlines works to stabilize its booking platform, passengers are urged to use the alternate booking channels provided.
