The “Generation Ban” strategy involves prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to individuals born after a specific year, ensuring that they will never legally purchase cigarettes or related items. This approach mirrors successful policies in countries like New Zealand, which have pioneered such measures to create smoke-free generations.
President Muizzu also announced a phased plan to eliminate tobacco imports over the coming years, further demonstrating the administration’s dedication to public health.
