Speaker of the People’s Majlis and Chairperson of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has expressed strong confidence that President Mohamed Muizzu will secure a decisive victory in the 2028 presidential election.
Speaking at a party gathering held last night to celebrate the PNC’s full majority win in the AA. Himandhoo Council election, Abdul Raheem said the party should view the current moment as an opportunity to renew its resolve and move forward with confidence.
He urged party members not to be influenced by negative rhetoric, stating that the PNC would respond through tangible results and continued delivery on its policies.
During his remarks, Abdul Raheem described the party’s ideology as one centered on unity, peace, and development, adding that the current administration’s approach would stand out when compared to previous governments.
Referring to recent council election outcomes, he emphasized that the PNC respects the will of the people, even in instances where it does not secure victory, and does not seek to challenge results through the courts.
He also called on the public to remain supportive of President Muizzu and work collectively toward securing another electoral victory, while cautioning against actions that could lead to instability.
Addressing political rivals, Abdul Raheem said constructive criticism would be welcomed, but warned against personal attacks, stating that political competition should not devolve into hostility.
Concluding his remarks, Abdul Raheem said he believes President Muizzu has the leadership qualities needed to guide the country forward, expressing confidence that the President would win the trust and support of the public and secure a second term in office.
