“Check Boahiyaavahikan portal from tomorrow”: State Minister Nazim tells housing applicants

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 20 minutes ago

The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has urged applicants under the government’s “Housing for All” programme to regularly check the Boahiyaavahikan Portal, warning that applicants flagged during verification will have seven days to clarify discrepancies.

A total of 58,585 applications for flats and land plots are currently undergoing verification after the application period closed.

Speaking on PSM’s “Raajje Miadhu” programme, State Minister for Housing, Land and Urban Development Ahmed Nazim Mohamed said the Ministry has obtained land ownership and registry information from local councils, city councils and other relevant state authorities across the country.

Applicants whose declared land ownership information conflicts with official records will begin receiving notices through the Hiyaavehi Portal from Sunday, he said.

Nazim said the verification system is automated and cross-references information submitted by applicants against records obtained from state institutions. Once a discrepancy is detected, the applicant will be notified through the portal and given seven days to respond.

“If no response is received within the seven-day period, the window for rectifying information will close,” Nazim said.

The Ministry has provided the clarification period because government and council records may sometimes contain outdated information. Nazim said discrepancies could arise from pending legal cases, unresolved inheritance matters or changes that have not yet been properly reflected in official registries.

Applicants are therefore being given an opportunity to explain their circumstances and submit supporting information before a determination is made.

Verification has also begun for information relating to education, employment and the Dhafthar registry, with the Ministry seeking relevant records from the respective authorities.

Nazim stressed that applicants should not wait for notifications to arrive in any particular order, as notices will be generated as the automated verification process progresses.

Those unable to obtain all necessary documents within the seven-day deadline should still contact the Ministry through the portal during that period and explain their situation, he said.

The government aims to complete verification by December and publish the lists of eligible recipients for flats and land plots during the same month.
