The Maldives Customs Service has seized around one kilogram of party drugs that were being smuggled into the country through Korea.
According to Customs, the drugs were discovered on Saturday during the inspection of a package that arrived in the Maldives via Korea.
Officers became suspicious that narcotics had been concealed inside the package during routine screening, prompting a closer examination.
The package was then subjected to further inspection at Velana International Airport, where the hidden substances were found to weigh around one kilogram.
Customs confirmed that the seized substances were party drugs.
The seizure comes just a day after another attempt to smuggle narcotics into the country through the post was foiled on Friday.
In that case, Customs seized around two kilograms of drugs, which were also identified as party drugs.
The back-to-back seizures highlight the continued attempts to bring illegal substances into the Maldives through postal and courier channels, and the ongoing vigilance of border authorities.
The Maldives introduced tougher penalties for drug-related offences under its revised Drugs Act in December 2025.
With two seizures in as many days, Customs has now intercepted around three kilograms of party drugs bound for the Maldives this week.
