The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has reminded the public that the deadline to register for its competition centered on creating artwork and souvenirs using shredded “Ran Dhiha Faheh” series banknotes is approaching fast.
According to the authority, interested participants have until 11:59 PM on May 14 to submit their applications for the initiative, which aims to give discarded currency notes a meaningful new purpose through creativity and innovation.
The competition focuses on currency notes that were shredded after becoming old or damaged. Through the project, the MMA hopes to transform the unusable material into artistic and commemorative creations.
The contest has been divided into two separate categories. One category invites participants to create artwork using shredded banknotes as the primary material, while the second focuses on designing souvenir items that could potentially be used by the MMA as official keepsakes and gifts.
Officials said the strongest entries selected from the competition will be displayed during the Maldives Financial Expo scheduled to take place in July this year.
The competition is open exclusively to Maldivians, including individuals, teams, and businesses. Participants are also allowed to compete in both categories.
Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each category. In addition, winners of the souvenir design section may receive an opportunity to produce the items under a separate agreement with the MMA.
The authority stated that application forms, proposals, and the competition guidebook are available through the MMA website. Completed submissions must be emailed to [email protected] before the deadline.
