Switzerland’s Edelweiss Air has announced an expansion of its Maldives operations, adding extra flights to accommodate strong travel demand during the upcoming summer season.
The airline confirmed it will introduce two additional weekly services between 4 July and 13 September 2026. These flights will operate every Wednesday and Saturday, enhancing connectivity between Switzerland and the Maldives during a key peak travel period.
With the seasonal boost, Edelweiss Air is set to operate a total of 21 additional flights to the Maldives, offering greater flexibility and improved travel options for passengers planning summer holidays.
The move underscores continued demand from European markets, particularly Switzerland, for Maldivian tourism. Industry trends indicate that long-haul leisure travel remains resilient, with island destinations such as the Maldives maintaining strong appeal among high-end and experiential travelers.
Edelweiss Air, the third-largest airline in Switzerland, has a long-standing presence in the Maldives. The carrier first launched flights to the destination on 4 November 2000 and has maintained uninterrupted service for over two decades. In 2025, the airline marked its 25th anniversary of operations to the Maldives, reinforcing its role as a key European carrier supporting the country’s tourism sector.
