Dhiraagu has supported the ITF Maldives Junior Open 2026 – J30, which brought together 80 young tennis players from 19 countries for a week of international competition in the Maldives.
The tournament provided a significant international platform for young Maldivian players, with 19 local athletes competing alongside junior players from around the world.
Organised in collaboration with the Tennis Association of Maldives, the competition gave emerging players an opportunity to gain international tournament experience while testing their abilities against opponents from different countries.
Dhiraagu said its support for the event reflects the company’s commitment to creating opportunities for young athletes to develop their abilities, pursue their potential and represent the Maldives in international competition.
The J30 designation forms part of the International Tennis Federation’s World Tennis Tour Juniors structure. J30 tournaments provide young players with an entry point into international junior competition, where they can gain experience and work towards building their ITF junior rankings.
For Maldivian players, hosting an international junior tournament at home can provide particularly valuable competitive exposure. Travelling overseas regularly for international competitions can involve significant costs and logistical challenges, while a home tournament allows a larger group of local athletes to experience international-level competition.
The participation of 19 Maldivians in this year’s event therefore represented an opportunity for the country’s emerging tennis players to compete within an international field without having to travel abroad.
With competitors representing 19 countries, the tournament also brought together players with different competitive backgrounds and playing styles, offering local athletes additional exposure as they continue their development.
Developing young athletes and providing pathways towards higher levels of competition remain important for the growth of tennis in the Maldives. International junior events can play a role in that process by allowing players to gain competitive experience at an early stage of their careers.
Dhiraagu has maintained a presence across Maldivian sports and community initiatives, supporting tournaments and activities involving both competitive athletes and wider public participation.
The company recently supported the Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026, which attracted more than 420 swimmers and became the largest open-water swimming event held in Malé.
Through its backing of the ITF Maldives Junior Open, Dhiraagu said it aims to continue supporting opportunities that allow young athletes to develop, pursue their sporting ambitions and represent the country.
The tournament concluded after a week of competition involving the 80 junior athletes, with the strong international turnout providing Maldivian players with valuable experience on home soil.
