The Fenaka Corporation has deployed two new generator sets to strengthen electricity supply in the northern Maldives, as part of its broader push to improve energy reliability across island communities.
The utility confirmed that two 250 kW gensets have been delivered to HA. Muraidhoo and HA. Thakandhoo on March 22, with installation works already underway. The units are expected to be fully operational before the end of the month.
Once commissioned, the upgrades will significantly expand power capacity on both islands. In HA. Muraidhoo, installed capacity will rise from 620 kW to 750 kW, while available capacity will increase from 375 kW to 490 kW. Meanwhile, HA. Thakandhoo will see its installed capacity grow from 480 kW to 650 kW, with available capacity improving from 310 kW to 450 kW.
Fenaka stated that the additional generation capacity will help stabilize electricity supply, reduce outages, and meet growing demand in the two islands. The move aligns with ongoing government efforts to modernize infrastructure and deliver more reliable utility services across the atolls.
The rollout underscores a continued focus on strengthening energy resilience in outer islands, where demand has steadily increased alongside development and population needs.
