Maldives Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam has departed for an official visit to India following an invitation extended by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit marks Iruthisham’s first official overseas trip since assuming office as Foreign Minister.
During the visit, Minister Iruthisham is scheduled to hold official discussions with Dr. Jaishankar, with talks expected to focus on reviewing bilateral and multilateral relations between the Maldives and India, as well as matters of mutual interest.
Officials said the meeting will provide an opportunity for both sides to further strengthen diplomatic engagement and cooperation across various sectors.
The Foreign Minister is accompanied by Additional Secretary Ibrahim Zuhuree and Assistant Director Aminath Guraisha.
The visit comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between the Maldives and India, with both countries maintaining close cooperation in areas including development, trade, security, and regional affairs.
