The Maldives has welcomed more than 1.8 million tourists so far this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Figures show that 1.81 million tourists had arrived in the country as of 4 November 2026.

China remains the Maldives’ largest source market, with 333,864 arrivals so far this year.

Russia follows in second place with 269,695 tourists, while the United Kingdom ranks third with 138,039 arrivals.

Germany and Italy complete the top five markets, with 122,152 and 106,941 arrivals respectively.

Resorts continue to attract the largest share of visitors, with 1.3 million tourists choosing to stay at resort properties this year.

Guesthouses have welcomed 386,969 tourists, while 39,957 visitors have stayed at hotels.

A total of 22,581 tourists arrived in the first four days of November, compared with 26,561 during the same period last year.

Overall arrivals so far stand 3.1 percent below the same period in 2025, when 1.87 million tourists had visited, as the conflict in the Middle East continues to affect global travel.

However, the latest government projections indicate that the Maldives is expected to welcome more tourists this year than it did last year.

The country is now gearing up for the peak tourist season, with 180 resorts, 17 hotels, 920 guesthouses and 164 safari vessels currently in operation.

The milestone comes shortly after the Maldives unveiled Visit Maldives Year 2027 at World Travel Market London earlier this month.

The initiative, officially designated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, brings together tourism establishments, island communities and international partners to showcase the breadth of experiences the country has to offer.

With the peak season approaching, the Maldives has now welcomed more than 1.8 million tourists this year, with arrivals expected to continue rising in the coming months.
