The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has opened applications for its latest internship programme, offering Maldivian students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in the country’s financial sector while receiving a monthly stipend of up to MVR 10,000.
The central bank said the programme has been designed to help participants develop workplace skills and gain first-hand exposure to the operations of one of the country’s key financial institutions.
A total of 10 internship placements are available under this intake. The programme is open to individuals who have completed O-Levels, A-Levels, Bachelor’s Degrees or Master’s Degrees, with internship durations ranging from two weeks to one year, depending on the placement.
According to the MMA, interns will work during official government working hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will receive a monthly allowance based on their highest educational qualification. Participants with O-Level or A-Level qualifications will receive MVR 8,000 per month, Bachelor’s degree holders will receive MVR 9,000, while those with a Master’s degree will be paid MVR 10,000.
The authority said interns will have the opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of departments, including Economics, Banking, Information Technology, Accounting, Legal Affairs, Media and Communications, and Administration. Internship placements will be matched to applicants based on their educational background and area of study.
Interested candidates have until 13 August to submit their applications through the government’s Job Portal (careers.gov.mv). Applicants are required to submit a completed application form together with their curriculum vitae and educational certificates. Those under the age of 18 must also provide a parental consent letter.
MMA said applicants demonstrating a strong interest in the financial sector, along with leadership qualities and effective communication skills, will be given priority during the selection process.
As the country’s central bank, the Maldives Monetary Authority regularly offers internship and scholarship opportunities to help develop local talent and strengthen the capacity of the nation’s financial sector. The programme provides participants with practical workplace experience while helping prepare young Maldivians for careers in banking, economics, finance and other related professions.
