MTCC to hold annual general meeting on October 29, shareholders to vote on dividends

By Hussain Shinan Published 1 hour ago

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the financial year 2025 will take place on October 29, with shareholders set to vote on the company’s proposed dividend distribution and other key corporate matters.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 pm, with registration now open for eligible shareholders wishing to participate.

According to MTCC, shareholders will be able to attend the meeting online through FahiVote, the electronic voting and meeting platform operated by Maldives Securities Depository (MSD).

The company has set October 27 at 8:30 pm as the deadline for shareholder registration, giving eligible investors until two days before the meeting to confirm their participation.

Only individuals and institutions listed in MTCC’s shareholder register as of September 28, 2026, will be entitled to participate in the AGM.

One of the main items on the agenda will be the proposed dividend distribution from the company’s profits for the 2025 financial year.

Shareholders will be asked to consider and vote on the dividend amount recommended by MTCC’s Board of Directors.

The decision will determine the distribution approved for eligible shareholders, subject to the company’s financial performance and the proposal presented at the meeting.

In addition to the dividend proposal, shareholders will consider the appointment of external auditors for the 2026 financial year and approve their remuneration.

The meeting will also include the appointment of directors representing public shareholders for the upcoming term, providing investors with an opportunity to participate in decisions concerning the company’s board representation.

Annual general meetings form an important part of corporate governance for publicly listed companies, allowing shareholders to review company matters, exercise voting rights and participate in decisions affecting the business.

MTCC is one of the Maldives’ major state-owned enterprises and operates across several sectors, including infrastructure development, construction, dredging, land reclamation and transport services.

The company has played a significant role in developing infrastructure across the atolls, undertaking projects such as harbour construction, coastal protection and other public works.

As a company listed on the Maldives Stock Exchange, MTCC is required to maintain corporate governance and shareholder reporting procedures, including convening annual meetings to address matters requiring shareholder approval.

The use of FahiVote allows eligible shareholders to participate electronically, providing an alternative to attending a meeting in person and making it easier for investors residing outside Malé to exercise their voting rights.

The digital platform is designed to facilitate shareholder participation in corporate meetings and voting procedures without requiring physical attendance.

MTCC has urged all eligible shareholders intending to participate in the AGM to complete their registration before the October 27 deadline.

The meeting will take place on October 29 at 8:30 pm, when shareholders will consider the dividend proposal, auditor appointments and board representation for the coming term.
