Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has opened its first dedicated auditorium, giving the utility company a permanent venue for large meetings, conferences and corporate events.
The newly completed facility features a 425-seat conference hall, as well as a separate boardroom capable of accommodating 28 people. Catering facilities and other amenities required for hosting meetings and events have also been incorporated into the venue.
MWSC Managing Director Hussain Fahmy said the facility was designed and constructed by the company’s own employees, with the entire project completed within 45 days.
Fahmy praised the employees involved in the project, crediting their efforts for completing the new facility within the short construction period.
Until now, MWSC did not have an auditorium of its own and had to hire external venues when organising larger meetings and gatherings. The company expects the new facility to reduce its reliance on rented spaces while providing a permanent setting for internal functions.
MWSC also plans to make the auditorium available beyond its own operations, with Government institutions and private businesses able to use the venue for conferences, meetings and other corporate events.
A religious sermon focusing on the importance of unity was delivered by Sheikh Ahmed Sameer during the opening ceremony.
The event was attended by Fahmy, members of MWSC’s board and employees of the company.
The auditorium adds to MWSC’s institutional infrastructure as the state-owned utility continues to expand its operations. The company is responsible for water and sewerage services in the Greater Malé region and is also involved in water and sewerage infrastructure projects across other parts of the country.
MWSC has expanded its role in recent years as the Government continues investments in water security and sewerage infrastructure across inhabited islands, alongside efforts to improve the operational capacity of state-owned utility providers.
