President Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Hassan Rasheed as Minister of Defence and National Service, completing the formation of the newly restructured Cabinet.
The appointment was formalised during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Wednesday night, where the President presented Rasheed with his official letter of appointment.
Oath-Taking Ceremony
The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Mohamed Ibrahim, after which the newly appointed minister signed the declaration of oath, marking the commencement of his duties.
Cabinet Formation Finalised
With this appointment, the government’s reconstituted Cabinet now comprises 15 ministerial portfolios, following a recent reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and administrative functions.
Officials say the completion of the Cabinet marks the beginning of the administration’s next phase, with a renewed focus on delivering key policy priorities.
