Ooredoo opens registration for Fun Run 2026, set for December 11

By Hussain Shinan Published 1 hour ago

Ooredoo Maldives has officially opened registrations for the 2026 edition of its popular Fun Run, scheduled to take place on December 11, following a record turnout of more than 7,500 participants at last year’s event in Hulhumalé.

The annual event, which has become one of the country’s largest community fitness gatherings, will return with a five-kilometre course featuring colourful activities, entertainment and interactive attractions designed for participants of all ages and fitness levels.

Unlike traditional running competitions, the Ooredoo Fun Run is an untimed event, allowing participants to complete the course at their own pace, whether running, jogging or walking.

This year’s programme will extend beyond the main run, with three events scheduled across December 10 and 11, bringing together families, fitness enthusiasts and members of the wider community.

The celebrations will begin on December 10 with a dedicated children’s event, scheduled from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The Kids’ Evening will feature activities designed specifically for children and families, providing an opportunity for younger participants to join the festivities ahead of the main event.

Later that evening, a live music show will take place from 8:00 pm until midnight, featuring performances by some of the Maldives’ popular bands.

The main Fun Run will be held on December 11 from 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm, with participants making their way through a five-kilometre route filled with entertainment and interactive challenges.

According to Ooredoo, inflatable obstacles will be placed at every kilometre, alongside colour throws and other attractions intended to create a lively atmosphere throughout the course.

The event will also feature a foam party, lucky draws and food stalls, giving participants and spectators opportunities to enjoy activities beyond the run itself.

Ooredoo has introduced two registration kit options for this year’s event, allowing participants to choose between different packages.

The Fun Kit, priced at MVR 210, includes an official Fun Run T-shirt, a multipurpose bandana, a bag and glasses.

Participants selecting this package will also receive complimentary personalisation of their race bib if they register before October 31.

A more affordable Standard Kit is available for MVR 110 and includes a Fun Run T-shirt, multipurpose bandana and race bib.

Registrations will remain open until 11:59 pm on November 7, although Ooredoo has advised interested participants to register early as the number of available slots is limited.

The event has grown into a prominent fixture on the Maldives’ community activity calendar, attracting participants who may not ordinarily take part in organised sporting competitions.

Its emphasis on participation rather than competition has helped make the Fun Run accessible to families, children, casual walkers and experienced runners alike.

The five-kilometre distance is also widely used for community fitness events because it offers an achievable challenge for participants with varying levels of physical activity.

By combining exercise with music, entertainment and interactive experiences, the event seeks to encourage people to engage in physical activity in a relaxed and social environment.

Last year’s Hulhumalé edition attracted more than 7,500 participants, setting a new attendance record for the event and demonstrating its growing popularity.

The strong turnout also reflected increasing public interest in recreational activities that bring communities together while promoting active lifestyles.

Ooredoo has continued to position the Fun Run as an inclusive community initiative, encouraging people to participate regardless of their running experience or fitness level.

With registrations now open, the company is preparing for another large gathering in December, featuring a full programme of family activities, live entertainment and the main five-kilometre run.

Interested participants can register and purchase their preferred kits through the official Ooredoo Fun Run 2026 registration portal before the November 7 deadline.
