Ooredoo’s AI Calendar Brings Dhon Hiyala to Life This November

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 21 hours ago

Ooredoo Maldives has released the November edition of its Ooredoo Calendar 2025, inviting customers to explore the world of Maldivian folklore through an interactive digital experience powered by artificial intelligence. This month highlights Dhon Hiyala, the celebrated heroine whose story remains one of the most cherished narratives in Dhivehi literature.

Dhon Hiyala, known as the radiant Faiymini, was hidden by her parents on the island of Buruni to protect her from the outside world. Her fate shifts when Ali Fulhu, a courageous young man from Hulhudheli, encounters her and falls deeply in love. Their relationship strengthens through a series of challenges and culminates in marriage. The joy they find together sparks the jealousy of a powerful King, setting off a dramatic struggle for love and freedom that has endured through generations as a signature Maldivian tale.

Ooredoo’s Calendar 2025 reimagines this iconic story through AI, creating a space where customers can engage directly with Dhon Hiyala through Ooredoo’s intelligent chatbot. The calendar, launched at the beginning of the year, features twelve legendary figures including characters from well known stories such as Foolhudhigu Handi and Safari Kaiydha.

Each month unlocks a new character that users can speak to. These AI personalities narrate their stories, answer questions, and offer cultural insights, creating a living archive of Maldivian tradition. The experience blends storytelling with modern technology to make folklore accessible to younger audiences while preserving the nation’s cultural memory.

Ooredoo states that the project aligns with its long term vision for a Digital Maldives by using innovation as a bridge between heritage and the future. The company aims to strengthen intergenerational connections and promote national identity through creative digital platforms.

For November, customers can step into the world of Dhon Hiyala by accessing the AI Chatbot and joining a month long journey through one of the Maldives most enduring legends. The full experience is available at https://ore.do/aifolktales.
