The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has appointed Uz. Moosa Fathuhee Adam as its new Secretary General, filling a key vacancy at a time of internal restructuring aligned with the party’s broader reform agenda.
The appointment was confirmed in an official announcement shared by the party on Monday, where PNC extended congratulations to Moosa Fathuhee, who previously served as a State Minister at the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works. The ministry was dissolved as part of recent Cabinet changes led by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, reflecting ongoing administrative reforms within the government.
The Secretary General position became vacant following the resignation of Muaz Haleem on April 18. In a public statement posted on X, Muaz said his decision was intended to support the party’s efforts to better align its operations with public expectations under President Muizzu’s leadership.
He also highlighted the need for a full-time administrative figure to manage party affairs effectively, indicating the growing demands within the PNC as it recalibrates its strategy following recent political developments.
Muaz continues to serve as a State Minister at the Ministry of Defence, while the appointment of Moosa Fathuhee signals a renewed focus on strengthening internal party structures as the ruling party advances its policy and governance agenda.
