A drug bust in Malé city has led to the arrest of 32-year-old Hassan Nazeeh from G. Jootheege, K. Male, following a joint operation by Drug Enforcement and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence on Thursday, January 30.
According to police reports, intelligence regarding the consumption, possession, and distribution of narcotics prompted authorities to act. During the operation, officers raided two residences linked to Nazeeh and discovered over one kilogram of drugs alongside a substantial amount of cash. Although officials have confirmed the provisional weight of the drugs seized, they have not disclosed the specific type of narcotics or the exact cash value recovered.
Nazeeh was subsequently presented before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing on Saturday. The court remanded him in police custody for 10 days as investigations into the case continue.
