Power may be interrupted from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, STELCO says

The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced that electricity supply may be temporarily interrupted in parts of Malé City and Hulhumalé on Friday morning as the company undertakes urgent upgrades to its electricity distribution network.

According to a public notice issued by STELCO, the planned maintenance work is scheduled to take place between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on 17 July 2026.

The utility said the work could result in temporary power interruptions in Malé City, as well as various parts of Hulhumalé Neighbourhood 1 and Neighbourhood 2.

STELCO explained that the maintenance is part of urgent efforts to upgrade its distribution network, aimed at strengthening the reliability and efficiency of electricity services.

The company expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and advised customers to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance period.
