The President is also scheduled to participate in the Maldives-Sri Lanka Business Forum and meet with the Maldivian community residing in Sri Lanka.

This visit will facilitate discussions on shared priorities and further solidify the close ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. It follows the state visit made by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to the Maldives from July 28 to 30, 2025. This visit also coincides with the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The Maldives and Sri Lanka officially established diplomatic relations on July 26, 1965.
