President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed for Singapore on Saturday night on an unofficial visit, the President’s Office has announced.
The President’s Office has not disclosed the duration of the visit or provided details of the couple’s itinerary. No official engagements have been announced in connection with the trip.
The visit marks another journey to Singapore by the First Couple, who have previously travelled to the country on unofficial visits and met with Maldivian families residing there.
Singapore is home to a Maldivian community that includes students, professionals and families, while the country is also a destination for Maldivians travelling for medical treatment and other personal purposes.
Although unofficial presidential visits may involve private engagements, including personal or medical matters, the President’s Office has not specified the purpose of the latest trip.
The Maldives and Singapore maintain longstanding diplomatic relations, with cooperation extending to areas such as education, healthcare, tourism and economic development.
