By Ahmed Ashraf Published 16 minutes ago

As excitement builds ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the State Trading Organization (STO) has launched a nationwide promotion aimed at helping football fans prepare for the world’s biggest sporting event.

The campaign, branded “STO World Cup Foari” offers customers discounts of up to 28 percent on selected televisions and projectors, along with opportunities to win travel packages and other attractive prizes.

The promotion features a range of entertainment products from leading brands, including Philips and LG televisions and Infocus Boxlight projectors. Customers who spend MVR 500 or more on eligible products will qualify for the promotion and be entered into a lucky draw.

A major highlight of the campaign is a five-day holiday package to Malaysia for two people, which will be awarded to one lucky winner from the retail customer category.

STO has also introduced rewards for wholesale customers. Businesses that spend more than MVR 3,000 will receive a lucky draw coupon for each qualifying invoice. Three winners will be selected from the wholesale category, with prizes valued at MVR 30,000, MVR 20,000 and MVR 10,000 respectively.

In addition to the grand prizes, STO will conduct weekly activities throughout the promotion, giving customers further chances to win World Cup-themed gifts and rewards.

The company said the initiative is designed to help families and football enthusiasts create the ideal viewing experience at home while enjoying the excitement of the World Cup together.

The STO World Cup Foari promotion will run until 12 July 2026 and is available at STO People’s Choice outlets in Malé and Hulhumalé, as well as all regional STO outlets across the country.

Football has long been one of the most popular sports in the Maldives, with World Cup tournaments drawing widespread public interest and community gatherings. Through the latest promotion, STO aims to enhance that experience by making home entertainment products more accessible while rewarding customers with a range of prizes.
