By Hussain Shinan Published 17 hours ago

Ooredoo Maldives has strengthened its position as the country’s leading digital connectivity provider, announcing that its 5G network now covers 80 percent of the Maldives.

The milestone marks a major step in the company’s ongoing efforts to expand next-generation connectivity across islands, bringing faster and more reliable mobile internet services to communities nationwide. Ooredoo said the expansion reflects its commitment to ensuring that people, businesses, and institutions can access high-speed digital services regardless of location.

With the wider rollout of 5G, customers are able to benefit from ultra-fast data speeds, low latency, and smoother performance, enabling a range of modern digital activities. These include high-definition video streaming, online gaming, remote work and learning, content creation, and the growing use of smart home technologies.

Ooredoo said the network expansion has been designed to respond to the rising demand for data-driven services across the Maldives. By delivering consistent high-speed connectivity, the company aims to support households, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises, and larger businesses, helping them improve productivity and explore new digital opportunities.

The company added that the achievement is part of its long-term investment in next-generation telecommunications infrastructure, aligned with its broader vision of building a more inclusive and future-ready Digital Maldives. As demand for digital services continues to grow, Ooredoo said it remains focused on expanding coverage further while introducing innovative solutions that enhance everyday connectivity.
