The Maldives Police Service on Friday held a grand graduation ceremony in Dh. Vaani to mark the completion of its 40th Basic Training Course. The ceremony was graced by Minister of Home Affairs and Professional Development Ali Ihusaan.
The event, hosted in Dh. Vaani, brought together senior state and law enforcement officials, including Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Deputy Commissioner Farhad Fikree, executives of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, foreign ambassadors, and families of the graduating officers.
During the ceremony, Minister Ihusaan, Commissioner Naveen, and Deputy Commissioner Fikree presented awards to outstanding students. Sergeant Mohamed Arshad was named the overall best student of the course, receiving the prestigious Commissioner of Police Excellence Award. Sergeant Adam Naseem and Constable Mohamed Ayaan Ali placed second and third respectively.
In subject-specific awards, Sergeant Ahmed Shibam ranked first in indoor studies, while Constable Aishath Hamza Niyaz led outdoor training, followed by Constable Zinaan Ahmed Rasheed and Constable Ahmed Athoof Mohamed Khalid. Squad-level honors also recognized top performers, with Ainella Squad earning the title of best overall squad, presented with a shield by Minister Ihusaan.
The 40th Basic Training Course, held from April 20 to August 30, trained 138 recruits — 97 men and 41 women — with 116 officers successfully graduating. The program focused on instilling fundamental skills and discipline required for policing, including modules on human rights, Islamic ethics, religious obligations, and the Police Service’s code of conduct and ethics.
Officials highlighted that the course remains a cornerstone in preparing officers to uphold the constitutional responsibilities of the Maldives Police Service and to serve the public with professionalism and integrity.
