President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured citizens that housing, one of the nation’s most pressing issues, will be addressed through a series of transformative projects beginning this year.
Announcing his plans at a PNC House gathering, President Muizzu confirmed that a new 3,000-unit housing project will break ground in Malé within 2025, in addition to 4,000 units arranged under India’s LoC financing scheme. He reaffirmed his pledge to deliver both flats and land plots already allocated to citizens without delay.
“Housing is not a forgotten promise. It is one of my top priorities, and construction will begin this year,” he stated.
The President noted that housing challenges extend beyond the capital, and emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across all islands.
