Maldives Airports Company Limited has inaugurated the first batch of its Security Officers Training Programme, reinforcing efforts to elevate safety standards and professional capacity at Velana International Airport.
The opening ceremony was held on 1 February 2026 at Hulhulé Island Hotel and was attended by senior officials from MACL Estate Security Services. The event was graced by Controller General of Immigration, Commissioner of Police (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh, underscoring the national importance placed on aviation security and inter-agency cooperation.

The programme is being conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service and is delivered through the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement. A total of 28 officers from MACL Estate Security Services are participating in the five-day training, which integrates classroom instruction with hands-on practical exercises.
Training modules focus on legal frameworks governing security operations, professional ethics, patrol and surveillance techniques, evidence identification, self-defence, physical preparedness, and coordinated team response. The curriculum is designed to enhance operational effectiveness while promoting discipline and professionalism across MACL’s frontline security workforce.

MACL stated that the programme forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen airport security infrastructure and human capital development, in line with international aviation standards and the growing operational demands of Velana International Airport.
