The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has temporarily suspended services on the Boahiyaavahikan Portal after a technical issue disrupted the online platform used for land and flat applications under the government’s “Housing for All” policy.
In a statement issued Monday evening, the ministry said its technical team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and assured the public that an announcement will be made once the portal is restored.
The outage comes just hours before the application deadline, which is scheduled to expire at 11:59 p.m. tonight. The disruption has left many applicants unable to access the portal to submit or complete their applications.
The current application window has already been extended twice. The original deadline of 30 April was first pushed to 31 May and later extended to 15 June to provide applicants with additional time to complete their submissions.
Although the ministry has not officially announced a further extension, the latest technical difficulties have fueled expectations that authorities may grant additional time for applicants affected by the outage. Earlier, officials had indicated that no further extensions were planned beyond tonight’s deadline.
The Boahiyaavahikan Portal serves as the government’s main platform for processing applications for land plots and housing units in the Greater Malé Region under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s flagship housing programme.
The ministry apologized for the inconvenience caused and urged applicants to await further updates regarding the restoration of services and any decision concerning the application deadline.
