Assurance from Presidential Spokesperson: Land Rights Remain Intact Amid HDC Investigation

By Ahmed Ashraf Published December 19, 2024

Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed has confidently assured the public that the rights of land recipients remain fully protected amidst ongoing investigations. Addressing concerns, she clarified that none of the rights of land recipients have been or will be compromised by the current proceedings.

To maintain the integrity and independence of the criminal investigation at HDC, conducted by law enforcement authorities, all board members of the company, including its Managing Director, have been suspended. This measure excludes only the Chairman of HDC’s board and will remain in effect until the investigation is concluded.

The investigation centers around serious allegations against HDC’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed. Since yesterday, accusations have surfaced claiming he falsely represented rightful landowners under the Binveriya Scheme, allegedly redirecting land allocations to his brother and other parties. The suspension underscores a commitment to transparency and accountability as authorities work diligently to uncover the truth.
