President Muizzu Meets Maafaru Leaders: Power, Health, Airport Top Agenda

In a powerful demonstration of his commitment to grassroots development, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the Maafaru Island Council, Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to directly address the island’s top priorities. The meeting, held at Fenaka Corporation’s Maafaru branch, served as a platform for candid dialogue on pressing community needs.

Council representatives raised urgent issues, including persistent electricity problems, and underscored the need for upgrades in healthcare and education services. Concerns over Maafaru’s strategic international airport were also discussed, with special focus on enhancing terminal facilities and improving the island’s harbour infrastructure.

President Muizzu, joined by Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials, assured the community that his administration remains fully committed to delivering sustainable development. He provided detailed updates on ongoing projects and reiterated the government’s resolve to resolve longstanding challenges facing the island.

The President’s engagement reflects his broader policy of inclusive governance, ensuring local voices shape national development priorities. Earlier in the day, President Muizzu also participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Maafaru Police Station, a vital step in strengthening public safety, officiated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan.

President Muizzu’s visit underscores a new era of decisive, community-driven governance aimed at transforming Maafaru into a model of progress and resilience.
