The GMCP, heralded as the Maldives’ most ambitious infrastructure endeavor, aims to seamlessly connect the capital city of Male with the islands of Villingili, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi. This 6.74-kilometer bridge and causeway network is poised to revolutionize transportation and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Funded through a generous grant of USD 100 million and a concessional credit line of USD 400 million from India, the project underscores the robust partnership between India and the Maldives. The successful erection of this precast segment not only signifies a leap in infrastructural development but also cements the collaborative spirit and mutual commitment of both nations towards progress and prosperity.
