The Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has officially launched its “MWSC Ramadan Sufuraa 1447” initiative, marking the return of the community-focused Iftar programme for the holy month.
The company announced that, following strong public response and cooperation during last year’s Ramadan Sufuraa, it has decided to continue the programme from the first day of Ramadan this year as well.
Under the initiative, Iftar meal packs are being distributed daily at the main entrance of the MWSC Fen Building in Malé. The programme aims to foster compassion, friendship and solidarity in line with the spirit of Ramadan.

MWSC said the activity serves not only as a gesture of goodwill but also as a way to strengthen social bonds within the community. Employees and members of the public are encouraged to take part, either by joining the distribution efforts or by contributing food items.
Those wishing to donate homemade food are advised to deliver items to the designated tent between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. each day. For health and safety reasons, donations must be properly sealed in foil containers.

The initiative reflects MWSC’s broader commitment to social responsibility beyond its core mandate of providing water and sewerage services. Company officials described the programme as an expression of unity and shared values during Ramadan, reinforcing the company’s engagement with the community it serves.
