December 2025 marked a defining moment for Maldivian tourism, as the country recorded its highest-ever monthly arrivals, welcoming 224,455 visitors. The figure surpasses the previous record of 217,392 arrivals in February 2024, cementing the Maldives’ strongest peak-month performance to date.
The milestone is widely credited to the strategic leadership of President Mohamed Muizzu, whose administration prioritised aviation connectivity, infrastructure readiness, and policy stability across the tourism sector. These measures ensured seamless operations during the busiest travel period while reinforcing investor and market confidence.
Equally pivotal has been the sustained global marketing push led by Visit Maldives Corporation, whose targeted campaigns strengthened the Maldives’ visibility in key source markets during the winter travel season. Industry data shows December arrivals rose 7.4 percent year-on-year, reflecting the effectiveness of coordinated destination branding and promotional outreach.
Official statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment indicate that the December surge capped a record-breaking year, with total arrivals in 2025 exceeding 2.24 million visitors.
The achievement highlights a unified national effort, combining presidential leadership, focused destination marketing, and industry readiness, positioning the Maldives strongly as it enters 2026 with renewed momentum.
