First Lady of the Maldives, Madam Sajidha Mohamed, paid a visit to the Peranakan Museum in Singapore on Thursday as part of her ongoing state visit alongside President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The First Lady was received at the museum by Mr Clement Onn, Director of the Asian Civilisations Museum and the Peranakan Museum. During her visit, Madam Sajidha was given a guided tour and an in-depth briefing on the museum’s exhibits and curatorial narratives.
The Peranakan Museum celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Peranakan communities across Southeast Asia, showcasing their history, identity, and evolving traditions. Through its galleries, the museum offers insights into the fusion of cultures and unique lifestyles that define the Peranakan legacy.
Madam Sajidha’s visit underscores the importance of cultural appreciation and engagement during diplomatic exchanges. The First Lady is currently accompanying President Muizzu on a state visit to Singapore aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
